Richie Wellens has been named Leicester's player of the year. The midfielder has been a key figure for the Foxes this season, starting 43 of the 45 Championship games so far. Wellens, 31, who missed the awards event on Tuesday night because of illness, told the club's official website: "The fans have been great all season and to get their vote is a great feeling." Midfield partner Andy King won the players' player of the season and the golden boot for his 15 goals. Meanwhile, on-loan striker Ayegbeni Yakubu collected the goal of the season award for his strike against Derby in February and on-loan defender Kyle Naughton was named young player of the season.
