Portuguese youngster Miguel Vitor has become Paolo Sousa's first signing as Leicester manager. 21-year-old Benfica defender Vitor has signed a loan deal, keeping him at the Walkers Stadium for the duration of next season. Since his debut in 2007, Vitor has made 34 appearances for the Portuguese giants and played a part in their league and cup double last season. Vitor is no stranger to the international scene either, having gained 15 caps at Under-21 level for the Portuguese national side. Paolo Sousa revealed that he has a close relationship with Benfica's Director of Football and Portuguese legend Rui Costa, and such a relationship helped make the loan deal possible. He also expressed his level of excitement about the ammount of experience the Centre-Back possesses at such a young age: 'Miguel is a young player that has a good background, and he already has plenty of experience. 'He has a good understanding of the game and reads it well. He is also a very powerful defender and I'm sure he will help to improve the squad.' He added. Talking of his move to English football, Vitor said: 'This is a big opportunity for me, the club have a Portuguese coach which is a big help because he knows me and he knows my qualities. 'I hope to play many games and play well to help Leicester City into the Premier League. 'I think I can help Leicester and Leicester can help me be a better player.' He added. Vitor is expected to be the first of several players to bolster the City squad as the Foxes pre season develops under Sousa and his backroom staff.
