Sven-Goran Eriksson failed to inflict an FA Cup sucker punch on Manchester City as his former club booked a fourth-round trip to Notts County with a 4-2 win over Leicester.
Carlos Tevez gave City a 15th-minute lead with a fine shot into the corner of the net after charging his way towards the box but Leicester levelled four minutes later from the penalty spot, Paul Gallagher converting after Lloyd Dyer was tripped by Patrick Vieira.
But in the space of 77 seconds towards the end of the opening period, the Premier League title chasers took control with Vieira tapping into an empty net after David Silva`s shot had been parried before Adam Johnson slotted past Chris Weale.
Tevez blasted a spot-kick straight at Weale's legs and Dyer set up a tense finale when he shrugged off Vincent Kompany to score before Aleksandar Kolarov lashed home a fourth in the final minute.
