Sousa: Owners Will Support Me

17 August 2010 14:37
Paolo Sousa has confirmed that the club's new owners will provide him with money to spend on strengthening his squad. Sousa is expected to meet with the new owners of the Walkers Stadium club - the Asian consortium, King Power Group - led by Thai business tycoon Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn. And, Sousa is confident that the take over of the club can only mean future success for the club. 'From what they (the new owners) said to me, they are going to support me and the squad to add some numbers and some quality. 'I don't know what kind of budget I will have, but they guaranteed they will give me support to make the right decisions to create a very strong squad.' Sousa watched his side produce a promising start to the Championship campaign at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday. The team looked solid at the back with Moreno and Jack Hobbs forming a good partnership whilst a strong three man midfield of King, Wellens and Oakley controlled the game for the Foxes. DJ Campbell was as dangerous as ever and will feel frustrated he failed to get on the score sheet as the match ended in a goalless draw. And, whilst Sousa knows his team should have taken advantage of their domination against Middlesbrough, there is alot more to come from his impressive squad this season. However, he knows that improvements are vital if they are to push for promotion this season and he believes the new owners will play a major part in this. 'Of course, the main thing is they have passion for the game and, hopefully, they can support that passion to help us improve the club.' He added. The Foxes will be hoping they can record thir first win of the season when they continue their Championship campaign on Saturday against newly relegated Burnley at Turf Moor.
