Roberto: Jara good enough for Prem

Jara, a £1.4million summer signing from Colo Colo, scored with a swerving shot from 30 yards late in the first half to send the Baggies into the break with a two-goal lead after Graham Dorrans had put them in front just three minutes earlier.[LNB]The 24-year-old has been used in a number of roles by Di Matteo this season but the Italian is still unsure about his best position.[LNB]Asked if Jara could play at a higher level, Di Matteo said: "Absolutely. He will be going to the World Cup with his nation next summer.[LNB]"I don't know what his best position is yet, maybe ask me at the end of the season.[LNB]"But his versatility is one of the reasons we signed him - to have a player that can play in a number of positions. He can play at centre-back, full-back or as a holding midfielder."[LNB]Former Fox Joe Mattock made his first return to the Walkers Stadium since joining West Brom in a £2million deal in the summer.[LNB]He was roundly booed by the home supporters every time he touched the ball, but Di Matteo felt he coped well with his hostile reception.[LNB]"He responded fantastically for the whole game," he said. "I thought he was very strong mentally and he had a good game and didn't let the supporters affect him. He was very cool in the build-up to the game too."[LNB]Albion were made to endure a tense finale after Bruno Berner pulled a goal back for Leicester in injury time, but Di Matteo felt his side were worthy winners.[LNB]"2-0 up is comfortable if you don't (then) concede but if you do, as we saw, it goes down to the last second of the game and it is always a bit jittery," said the Italian.[LNB]"We should have scored the third goal to put the game to bed.[LNB]"We absolutely deserved to win. I think we did everything quite well. We defended well and we kept (Matty) Fryatt and (Martyn) Waghorn very quiet. We attacked well. We moved the ball around well and we controlled the game the majority of the time.[LNB]"We didn't give them any space and I thought it was a very good all-round performance."[LNB]Leicester manager Nigel Pearson agreed but he was pleased with the application of his players despite the defeat.[LNB]"I've got no complaints with the result. They were the better side and they passed the ball very well," said Pearson.[LNB]"We were disappointed that we didn't reproduce the form of our last game at QPR, but you've got to give them some credit as well.[LNB]"However, I was delighted with the players in the second half. I thought the work rate and commitment and effort was terrific. We stretched them all the way but the goal right at the end was scant consolation."[LNB]Captain Matt Oakley was booked for the foul on Jerome Thomas that lead to West Brom's first goal. It was his fifth yellow card of the season and he will be suspended for the home game against Plymouth after the international break.[LNB]Pearson also revealed that another midfielder, Andy King, suffered a suspected broken arm to force his substitution moments before half-time.[LNB][LNB]
