Leicester kept their bid for promotion to the Premier League firmly on track with a record-breaking 2-1 win against Birmingham on Tuesday.
Nigel Pearson's side remain eight points clear at the top of the Championship thanks to goals from Lloyd Dyer and Jamie Vardy at St Andrews.
Those goals were enough to secure Leicester's eighth successive win and also their fourth away victory on the trot, with both achievements setting new club records.
Dyer, who is presently trying to negotiate an improved contract, certainly enhanced his prospects of a big-money deal with a vital first-half strike.
Vardy sealed the victory with a fine individual strike in the 83rd minute for his 10th goal of the season, although Leicester conceded an 86th-minute goal from Birmingham's Peter Lovenkrands.
Second placed QPR hold the other automatic promotion berth after a 2-1 win over Bolton at Loftus Road.
Charlie Austin headed home Matt Phillips' 40th-minute cross to open the scoring for Harry Redknapp's team.
And Karl Henry doubled the lead five minutes after the break, firing into the bottom corner from 20 yards.
Jay Spearing pulled a goal back late on but Bolton, who have won only one of their last seven league matches, were unable to find an equaliser.
Third placed Burnley lost further ground on the second tier's top two as they were unable to find a way past Brighton in a 0-0 draw at Turf Moor.
A dramatic stoppage-time header from Chris Martin shattered Yeovil as fourth placed Derby came from two goals down to snatch a memorable 3-2 win at the iPro Stadium.
Yeovil had led 2-0 at half-time through John Lundstram and Ishmael Miller but another goal from Chelsea's on-loan striker Patrick Bamford and a Craig Bryson drive put Derby level before Martin glanced in a free-kick in the fourth minute of added time.
Managerless Blackpool's misery continued as they lost 5-1 at Reading, their 10th defeat in a winless run of 12 matches in all competitions.
Reading striker Adam Le Fondre did most of the damage for the Royals, claiming a second hat-trick in successive home games.
Le Fondre struck twice in a 10-minute spell in the first half before Pavel Pogrebnyak made it 3-0 early in the second period.
Steve Davies gave Blackpool hope with a thumping shot from long distance but Le Fondre coolly completed his treble, taking his tally for the season to 13, and Hal Robson-Kanu added the fifth in the 82nd minute.
