Rams make Campbell approach

Nigel Clough has asked about the possibility of bringing 28-year-old Campbell to Pride Park on loan and is now waiting on a decision from City counterpart Nigel Pearson.[LNB]"There are lots of phone calls at the moment but we have contacted Leicester and we are waiting to hear from them," said Clough. "He (Campbell) is one of a few players we have asked about and we think he wants to come here.[LNB]"I think we will get somebody in but it is about getting the right quality. I think the main criteria is pace. The player must have a bit of pace."[LNB]The Rams however have been knocked back in their attempt to sign goalkeeper Fielding.[LNB]Clough is looking for cover for Stephen Bywater now that second-choice keeper Saul Deeney could be out for up to six weeks after suffering a freak injury in the build-up to the game at Swansea.[LNB]Deeney slipped and badly twisted his ankle outside the team's hotel on last week after the fire alarm had gone off.[LNB]Clough tried to sign Fielding in the summer and has now missed out on the Rovers keeper again.[LNB]"They (Blackburn) have knocked us back. They do not want to let him out at the moment, so we are exploring other options," said Clough.[LNB]Fielding, 21, has had loan spells at Wycombe, Northampton, Rochdale and Leeds but has yet to make a senior appearance for Blackburn.[LNB][LNB]
