Powell Declares Future To Foxes In Wake Of Newcastle Link

Chris Powell has quashed rumours linking him with a move to St James Park, by insisting his future is with Sven Goran-Eriksson and the Foxes. Recent reports suggest that Leicester have rejected a bid from Newcastle for the services of first team and reserve coach, Chris Powell. Alan Pardew was unveiled as the new Toon boss earlier this week after the suprising dismissal of popular figure Chris Hughton and Pardew is reported to be interested in making Powell a member of his new backroom staff. However, Powell has committed his future to Leicester, in much the same way that boss Sven Goran-Eriksson declared that his future is with the Foxes earlier this week when linked with the Blackburn job. Powell told the Leicester Mercury: 'I have a job to do here as coach. 'We've had a chat and he (Eriksson) is keen for me to stay and, as far as I'm concerned, that is what I am doing. 'Under Sven and the new owners, the club is on the verge of a big new thing and I think there is only one direction which they are going in and that is upwards.' Powell added.
