Pearson & Wood Nominated For January Awards

14 February 2013 10:30
The Foxes impressive start to the year has been recognised by the Football League with manager Nigel Pearson and January signing Chris Wood both in the running for awards.

Nigel Pearson has masterminded his team's incredible start to the calendar year in the Championship with a record of four straight league wins.

Most impressive during their winning streak has been goal scoring sensation Chris Wood.

The New Zealand international, who signed for the Foxes on the opening day of the January transfer window, has made a dream start to his Leicester career.

Linking up superbly with David Nugent, Wood found the net five times, including a hat-trick during the Foxes 4-0 demolition of Bristol City.

In fact, it may be no coincidence that City have lost their last two matches following Wood's absence through injury.

Championship Manager of the Month nominations

Sean Dyche (Burnley) Nigel Pearson (Leicester City) Gus Poyet (Brighton & Hove Albion)

Championship Player of the Month nominations

Jason Shackell (Burnley) Matej Vydra (Watford) Chris Wood (Leicester City)

The winners of both awards will be announced on Friday morning.
