Pearson not satisfied with point

Midfielder Ritchie Wellens was sent off for the ninth time in his career on the half-hour mark after picking up his second yellow card of the game for a foul on Wayne Routledge.[LNB]Wellens had already been booked after 17 minutes for a challenge on Alan Smith.[LNB]The closest the Magpies came to capitalising on their numerical advantage was when Patrick Van Aanholt forced a save from Chris Weale late in the first half.[LNB]Leicester chances were few and far between at the Walkers Stadium, but Pearson was still unhappy with the result.[LNB]He said: "I thought we were the better side with 11, and the better side with 10.[LNB]"It was important for us to put in a performance in which we believed in ourselves and also showed some quality.[LNB]"But it is only one performance and one point. We still have aspirations to be involved in the play-offs. We have been in a bit of a rut recently so today was an important stepping stone for us."[LNB]However, Pearson refused to comment on Wellens' dismissal or on claims that City should have had two penalties during the match.[LNB]Pearson said: "I've not reviewed the incidents but I will be having my say on them later on."[LNB]The Foxes boss also revealed there could be new players arriving at the Walkers Stadium before the transfer window shuts.[LNB]He said: "We may make one or two loan signings, but nothing permanent, so watch this space."[LNB]Newcastle manager Chris Houghton admitted he expected his side to go on and win the game after Leicester had been reduced to 10 men.[LNB]He said: "I've mixed emotions about the game. They were down to 10 men for so long and it's disappointing we were not able to capitalise on that.[LNB]"But they played with great spirit and what often happens when you go down to 10 men it galvanises the team.[LNB]"The sending off also seemed to lift the crowd who felt aggrieved at what had happened."[LNB][LNB]
