The experienced full-back, 27, has spent the last 13 years at the Maroons but was not offered a new contract by the SPL side.
He will sign a three-year deal with the Foxes on July 1 and told the Leicester Mercury: "I met Nigel Pearson and right away I made up my mind that I wanted to sign.
"He doesn't want to finish mid-table next season, he wants to push on and get promotion. That was a big incentive for me.
"My ultimate ambition is to play in the Premier League, it's every players' dream."
