Nampalys Mendy excited to test himself in Premier League

New Leicester signing Nampalys Mendy is looking forward to testing himself in the Barclays Premier League.

Prior to completing his move from Nice to the English champions at the weekend, Mendy's career had been solely spent in French football - including a spell working under current Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri at Monaco.

The 24-year-old midfielder believes there are marked differences between the two leagues but thinks he is capable of adapting.

He told the club's official website: " I'm excited to play in the Premier League because it's my first season in it. I came from France and today I'm at a Premier League club - it's my dream.

"The Premier League is physically stronger and it's faster and in Ligue 1, it's more about tactics and technique, so it's very different. I like to always fight and I play for the team. I play with my head also.

"I like the stadium also - it's big and it's different to stadiums in France - the supporters are close to the pitch."

Mendy moved to Leicester for an undisclosed fee, signing a four-year deal, and is the third new arrival this summer following the acquisitions of goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler and defender Luis Hernandez.
