Leicester defender Marcin Wasilewski has signed a new one-year contract with the Barclays Premier League champions.

The powerful Polish centre-half has put pen to paper on a deal to keep him at the King Power Stadium for the forthcoming 2016-17 season, when Leicester will play in the group stages of the Champions League for the first time.

Wasilewski's experience could prove vital as he took part in Europe's biggest club competition during his time at Anderlecht.

Since joining Leicester from the Belgian club in September 2013, the 36-year-old has made 72 appearances for the Foxes - including nine in all competitions last season as Claudio Ranieiri's team lifted the league title.
