Leicester V Middlesbrough at The King Power Stadium : Match Preview

31 January 2012 15:52
Leicester will check on in-form striker Jermaine Beckford ahead of their return to npower Championship action against Middlesbrough.

Beckford, whose five goals in the last three matches have coincided with a three-game winning run for the Foxes, limped out of the FA Cup fourth-round victory against Swindon on Saturday with a tight hamstring.

On-loan striker Nathan Delfouneso, ineligible at the weekend, is a like-for-like replacement for Beckford should manager Nigel Pearson not wish to take any chances on his fitness.

Lee Peltier is nursing a minor ankle knock following the game against Swindon and he will also be assessed. Liam Moore is available again after being cup-tied and the teenager is a contender to fill in for Peltier at full-back should he not recover.

Midfielder Danny Drinkwater and goalkeeper Conrad Logan also come back into the reckoning after being cup-tied while new signing Wes Morgan is expected to be included in the squad after arriving from Nottingham Forest.

Middlesbrough face a goalkeeping crisis.

The Teessiders were without Jason Steele (thigh) in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Sunderland in the FA Cup and fellow stopper Danny Coyne (calf) came off injured in the second half. Coyne has definitely been ruled out while Steele faces a late fitness test after participating in some light independent training on Tuesday.

Teenager Connor Ripley would start should Steele miss out once more. Manager Tony Mowbray has Kevin Thomson back after he completed a one-match suspension against the Black Cats but fellow midfielder Julio Arca serves the second game of his own three-match ban.

Striker Bart Ogbeche (hamstring) and midfield pair Nicky Bailey (medial ligament damage) and Merouane Zemmama (groin) are all long-term absentees.

Middlesbrough turned down a bid from Bolton for Australia international Rhys Williams early on Tuesday and it remains to be seen if he will be involved.
