Thordarson will go head-to-head with Pearson, who was his number two at Stoke nine years ago, when Alex host the champions in the final game of the season on Saturday. The Icelandic boss told Crewe's official website: "I am very pleased for Nigel for what he has achieved at Leicester this season. Any promotion is a great promotion and I am absolutely delighted for him. "He is a hard working man and he deserves all the success. He is a very competitive man and was very supportive to me at Stoke. "I always thought he would do very well in the game and he has come back from a disappointing spell at Southampton to lead Leicester to promotion. "They have done it in style and it is not easy, as a number of big clubs have found out."
