Gallagher eager for striker role

Pearson utilised Gallagher, a recent signing from Blackburn, as a winger in the club's 1-0 defeat to Newcastle on Monday but the Scotsman believes his best position is up front.

"I think I am most effective playing just off the front man," he told the Leicester Mercury.

"I played there for Plymouth last season and I think I scored five goals in eight games. It went really well. I have played on the left and the right, which I don't mind doing because you have to help the team out.

"But I think my main position is as a striker. I think if you look at the goals I have scored in the Championship you will find I got double figures for both Stoke and Plymouth."
