Foxes cruise to victory over Owls
Howard opened the scoring after just seven minutes when he got on the end of Matt Fryatt's chipped cross.[LNB]Andy King doubled the Foxes' advantage midway through the first half as he slotted home from close range.[LNB]And City's marked improvement on recent performances was complete when the Wales international grabbed his second of the match to secure the three points.[LNB]Wednesday went into the match with an unchanged side but Leicester manager Nigel Pearson made four changes to the team which lost 3-1 to Bristol City in midweek, with Fryatt, Howard, Bruno Berner and Lloyd Dyer coming into the side.[LNB]And after seven minutes Pearson's shake-up paid dividends.[LNB]Referee Carl Boyeson allowed play to continue after Matt Oakley was fouled, allowing Fryatt to run out to the byline and chip the ball onto the head of Howard.[LNB]Howard's first goal since April spurred the Foxes on as they continued to pile the pressure on the relegation scrappers.[LNB]Leicester were given a shot across the bows moments later, though, when Marcus Tudgay showed his agility with an overhead kick which went just wide from 10 yards.[LNB]However, City were showing a marked improvement on their recent performances and almost extended their lead when Howard headed onto Fryatt, who forced a good palmed save from goalkeeper Lee Grant.[LNB]But the Owls stopper could not prevent King from doubling the home side's lead in the 26th minute.[LNB]As the ball bobbled around the area King took control and rolled the ball home for his second goal of the season.[LNB]A Fryatt volley was knocked out for a corner, before Oakley forced Grant into a superb save from a tight angle.[LNB]Wednesday boss Brian Laws decided to alter things as the first half came to a close, bringing on Tom Soares and Michael Gray for Darren Potter and Jermaine Johnson - a decision met by a chorus of boos and chants of "you don't know what you're doing."[LNB]But after the break the changes seemed to be working and Sean McAllister came close to pulling one back for Wednesday, but his goalbound shot was well blocked by Michael Morrison.[LNB]Yet Leicester were still being allowed to press and almost got their third through shots from Oakley and Fryatt.[LNB]They were denied then but they were not to be kept out for long.[LNB]The Foxes wrapped up the win when a superb team move saw the ball break to King, who finished smartly from 12 yards out.[LNB][LNB][LNB]
