Pearson's men have made a solid start to life back in the Championship, winning two and drawing two of their first four matches. They travel to Deepdale in the Carling Cup looking to reach the third round for the fourth time in five years. Pearson believes making progress will help City maintain their momentum. He said: "The main thing is how we get on with the league and I think it is the priority most seasons. But cup runs are useful and, when you are winning ties, it is a positive. "If you have a successful time in the cups it always adds to the momentum. Like always, we will be going there to try to win the game so we will see how we go."
