David Nugent became Leicester's fifth pre-season signing when he joined the Championship club on a three-year contract Tuesday.

Nugent was available as a free agent after leaving Portsmouth, who also play in English football's second-tier, at the end of his contract with the south coast club.

The 26-year-old Nugent, who has one England cap, spent four seasons at Fratton Park after Portsmouth paid Preston £6million for his services.

Nugent joins Kasper Schmeichel, Neil Danns, Sean St Ledger and Lee Peltier as new signings at the King Power Stadium and Leicester boss Sven-Goran Eriksson was delighted by the Midlands club's latest signing.

"David is hard-working and will score goals for us," former England manager Eriksson told the club's official websiste.

"We are very pleased to have him on board as we continue to assemble a squad fit to challenge for promotion," the Swede added.
