The npower Championship club announced on August 12 that they had been bought out by the Asia Football Investments Consortium led by Thai businessman Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn.
He is a member of the family which owns a Thailand-based duty-free shopping business called King Power, and was then present at the club's league clash with Middlesbrough at the Walkers Stadium.
Manager Paulo Sousa also publicly declared that the new owners had promised that funds would be made available to him, but the League say that nothing has been confirmed.
Leicester revealed at the time of the sale that Milan Mandaric, their former owner, would remain as chairman, but the League say nothing has been concluded because they have not received the full details of the deal.
"Some good, helpful information has been provided," a spokesman told the Guardian.
"But there is still more to come. The takeover has not been approved."
