Campbell Set To Stay

DJ Campbell's Leicester City career looks to have been revived under Paulo Sousa. After helping Ian Holloway's Blackpool side to play-off glory whilst on loan at Bloomfield Road last season, the 28-year-old striker looked certain to join the Tangerines on a permanent basis. After all, Holloway showed a strong desire to keep hold of Campbell, publicly naming the striker as a summer transfer target. However, after drawn out transfer negotiations, the two clubs failed to agree on a suitable transfer fee - with £1.5million the speculated asking price for the unsettled striker. Although the former Birmingham man has never previously found his best form for the Foxes, things finally look to be changing - the striker has scored three goals in three matches during pre-season and looks to be showing the type of form that helped send Blackpool into the promised land of the Premier League just months ago. While Campbell looks almost certain to be a Leicester City player this season under Paulo Sousa, French striker Yann Kermorgant's future is far from settled. After being handed a two-and-a-half year contract by former boss Nigel Pearson in 2009, the target man has yet to show the ability that Pearson showed such faith in. And, Paulo Sousa has been left unimpressed by the striker's performances thus far in pre season. Kermorgant is expected to accept an offer of a year long loan at French League One side AC Arles-Avignon. Steve Howard, subject to a £300,000 bid from Huddersfield, is set to remain at the Walkers Stadium after Paulo Sousa has declared his desire to keep hold of the veteran target man. Howard has a year remaining on his current contract.
