The burly striker netted for only the second time this campaign as City recovered from conceding after just 20 seconds to draw 1-1 at home to Ipswich.

Howard scored 15 goals as the Foxes won the League One title last season and Pearson believes the 33-year-old can push on and rediscover that kind of form between now and May.

"He always contributes to the team's performance but, if you ask any striker, they will always judge themselves on the number of goals they score," said Pearson.

"It is frustrating for strikers when they aren't scoring but it was an important goal for us, and I hope he can get some more now."
