Kukesi await fate after abandonment

UEFA will await reports from the match referee and delegate before deciding whether to sanction FK Kukesi over the abandonment of their Europa League qualifier with Legia Warsaw.

Thursday night's first-leg match in the third qualifying round was abandoned early in the second half after what the governing body described as "an act of violence... on the pitch involving spectators".

Visitors Legia had just taken a 2-1 lead when their midfielder Ondrej Duda was hit by a stone thrown from the crowd.

A statement from UEFA to Press Association Sport on Friday morning read: "We are waiting for the reports from the officials (to be) evaluated."

Duda was taken off the field on a stretcher after the incident and had his head bandaged, but he was soon back on his feet and even changed his bloodied shirt in anticipation of a restart which never came.

Legia speculated on Twitter that the game "will probably be declared forfeit (by Kukesi)", but the Albanian club's fate will not be known until UEFA's investigation is concluded.
