Wolves targeted Lewis

Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has revealed that Wolves attempted to sign Eddie Lewis on transfer deadline day.

Bates rejected the offer for the 32-year-old USA international winger, who moved to Elland Road from Preston North End last summer.

"We had a deadline day bid by Mick McCarthy who tried to buy Eddie Lewis," said Bates.

"Of course we said no, and I'm hoping that he'll show them what they missed out on, when we meet on Sunday."
