Wise remains bullish

Leeds United boss Dennis Wise claims his ailing side can still avoid relegation despite suffering their 21st defeat of the season at Birmingham City on Tuesday evening.

The Championship basement club went down 1-0 at St Andrew's, but Wise remains optimistic of survival despite seeing a claim for an equaliser disappear when Stephen Clemence cleared David Healy's second-half effort off the line.

Wise claimed afterwards: "It was a goal. The linesman wasn't in the right position to make a judgement and it cost us a vital point.

"But I thought we played extremely well. We had far more chances than Birmingham.

"I'm pleased with all my players and if we continue to play like this we'll get out of trouble. I'd certainly be worried if we weren't creating the chances.

"Saying that, it was an unbelievable header from Bendtner which sealed the game for Birmingham. It was a quality goal."
