Wise handed FA charge

Leeds United boss Dennis Wise has been charged with using abusive language towards a match official by the Football Association.

Wise allegedly abused referee Danny McDermid during last weekend's 1-1 draw with Gillingham in a match which saw two Leeds players - Tresor Kandol and Jermaine Beckford - dismissed.

However, the FA has also confirmed it plans to investigate the match official's own conduct at Priestfield.

"The charge relates to Wise's conduct towards referee Danny McDermid at half-time during the game against Gillingham on Saturday," read an FA statement.

"The FA can confirm that it has received a complaint from Leeds United regarding the conduct of the referee towards Wise after the conclusion of the game.

"This is now under consideration."
