Referee Danny McDermid has been charged with using foul or abusive language towards Leeds United boss Dennis Wise by the Football Association.
Wise was sent to the stands by McDermid during a bad-tempered match between Leeds and Gillingham at Elland Road in September.
The United boss, who claimed McDermid abused him during the incident, was fined £5,000 and handed a three-match touchline ban.
And now following an FA disciplinary hearing, the match official has also been hit with a charge.
"At a regulatory commission hearing last week, Leeds United manager Dennis Wise was fined £5,000 and given a three-match touchline ban," revealed an FA statement.
"The commission invoked a previous suspended one-match touchline ban and issued a further two-match ban. In reaching its decision, the commission took into account Wise's poor recent disciplinary record.
"Meanwhile, the FA has charged referee Danny McDermid with using abusive and/or insulting words towards Wise.
"The incident is alleged to have occurred following the match against Gillingham. McDermid has until November 13 to respond to the charge."
