Redfearn accepts Leeds role
07 Jan 2009 - 13:19:52
Leeds United have appointed Neil Redfearn as their new under-18s coach, fulfilling a lifelong ambition for the Football League veteran.
Redfearn most notably had spells at Barnsley, Charlton and Bradford during a playing career that spanned 24 years and has since had spells in management at Halifax Town, Scarborough and Northwich Victoria.
Redfearn stepped down as assistant manager of non-league outfit York City on January 1 to take up the post at Leeds and realise a dream of linking up with the club he supported as a boy.
"The opportunity arose here and it's a fantastic opportunity for me. The beauty about it for me is that as a kid I was Leeds United daft, so it's something I always wanted to do," explained Redfearn.
"You can't not be impressed. Obviously the young players who have come through the Academy are a good testament to how it works and to be part of that process is an exciting prospect."
