On Song: Leeds United's Luciano Becchio

With the help of a fan, the Observer looks at an in-form Football League player. The lowdownBorn in Córdoba, Argentina, Becchio began his career with Boca Juniors youth teams but soon moved to Europe. After a spell in the Spanish lower leagues he joined Leeds in 2008. His work ethic was soon on display as he missed only one match in all competitions during that opening campaign, and scored 17 goals the next which were central to Leeds' promotion. It looks like continuing, with eight goals from 13 shots on target already this season. View from the terrace"Luciano, Luciano - costs less than Berbatov, and he scores more goals" goes the song, and it's being heard more than ever. Becchio has everything Leeds fans love: passion, workrate and a fair bit of ability - good in the air, strong on the ground, and with a decent left foot. The hat-trick last weekend against Bristol City was his first in English football and, on current form, won't be the last. He's out of contract in the summer, but both he and Simon Grayson seem keen to extend his deal - let's hope those costs don't soar. Andy Baggot, TheFootballNetwork.net
