Leeds United have placed assistant boss John Carver in caretaker charge of first-team affairs following the sacking of manager Kevin Blackwell.
Blackwell was axed on Wednesday with United one from bottom of the Championship, with former Newcastle United first-team coach Carver handed the task of turning things around in the near future.
A statement from the Elland Road club confirmed: "John Carver will take over as the club's caretaker manager, following the departure of Kevin Blackwell.
"He will be assisted by current reserve team manager, Dave Geddis, and will work in close conjunction with Gwyn Williams, the club's technical director.
"The appointment will take immediate effect and his first game in charge will be against Birmingham City on Saturday."
