    Leeds skipper injury woe

    15 Feb 2008 - 16:44:59

Leeds' stand-in captain Andrew Hughes has suffered a knee injury which will see him miss the next three weeks of United's stuttering League One promotion challenge.

Hughes picked up the injury in Tuesday's League One draw with Nottingham Forest and is set to see a specialist at the beginning of next week.

United manager Gary McAllister told the club's official website: "He's a guy who gives us a bit of momentum and driving force in the middle of the park.

"But we are well covered, we've got a little boost of Neil Kilkenny back as well."

The 30-year-old midfielder joined the Elland Road side at the beginning of the current season from Norwich City.

Hughes has made over 450 career appearances in a career which has lasted over 12 years. He started his career at Oldham Athletic before moving on to Notts County and Reading respectively.
