Leeds ponder Christie deal

07 Nov 2008 - 14:52:43

Leeds United boss Gary McAllister has revealed he is seriously considering offering trialist striker Malcolm Christie a contract.

The 29-year-old former England Under-21 international has been out of the game for over a year following his release by Middlesbrough in September 2007, but has impressed McAllister while training with the League One club.

"We're looking closely at Malcom Christie now," he told the club's official website.

"We gave him our facilities to get back. Malcolm's had the opportunity to play a few games and he's now fit.

"There may be a decision to be made there. I've watched him in his last three games and he's one that makes me think.

"It's not a million years ago Middlesbrough were paying a lot of money for him before he got his knock."

Meanwhile, McAllister has denied reports that he is considering offering Ian Harte a contract after allowing the former Leeds defender to train with his squad.

"His left foot has never been in doubt, but it's purely that he's training here and working on fitness," he added.
