Leeds land striker Showunmi

Enoch Showunmi has revealed that Gary McAllister's appointment as manager persuaded him to sign a two-year deal with Leeds United.

The 26-year-old Bristol City striker had been linked with a transfer to Elland Road in January but believes now is the right time to sign for the League One side.

Former Luton Town star Showunmi told United's official website: "It wasn't a move I was ready to make at the time, but now the lure of Leeds has brought me here.

"You only have to look at the fan-base, the players of the past, and it's only seven years since the club was in the Champions League.

"Gary McAllister was one of my idols as a player. Having seen what sort of footballer he was and with the football brain he has it will be great to work under him."
