Leeds United midfielder Neil Kilkenny has admitted he won't be holding his breath about earning a recall to the Australia national side.
He hasn't featured for the Socceroos since travelling with the squad to the 2008 Olympic Games in Bejiing.
The 23-year-old criticised coach Graham Arnold afterwards, saying he had reneged on promises made as Kilkenny made minimal game time in the competition and he believes current national coach Pim Verbeek has issues with him.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, he said: "If the call comes along, then fair enough, but I think there's a lot of politics involved in the Australian set-up.
"The assistant-manager doesn't really like me, so I don't think he (Pim Verbeek) will pick me."
