Howson delighted to commit

Promising midfielder Jonny Howson has revealed he signed a new two-year deal with Leeds United because the future is bright at Elland Road.

The 20-year-old took the plaudits after breaking into the first team and making 39 appearances last season.

But, despite their failure to win promotion back to the Championship via last month's play-off final, Howson was happy to pledge his future to Gary McAllister's side.

"I wanted to sign when it was right for me and the club - which it is - and it's been done," he told the official club's official website.

"I remember when I signed my last contract I wasn't playing regularly, but since Gary came in I've played a lot more.

"Everyone believes we are going somewhere, there's no point in dwelling on the past because you can't change it."
