Leeds United striker Geoff Horsfield has admitted to an FA charge of using abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official after being sent off against Crystal Palace.
Horsfield was dismissed for an elbow on Eagles defender Mark Hudson, before issuing a verbal volley at the referee's assistant who had spotted the offence.
The veteran striker told his club's official website: "It was nothing intentional.
"It was a little fracas and we got tangled up. I had my shirt pulled as I was running. There was no malicious intent and there was definitely no elbow.
"However, I apologise for what I said.
"It was said in the heat of the moment because I didn't think I deserved to be sent off. I apologise for any offence I may have caused."
