Healy makes Leeds pledge

Leeds United striker David Healy has vowed to carry his international form on to the club stage and help fire the Championship's bottom club to safety.

The Northern Ireland international took his Euro 2008 qualifying tally to nine with a brace in Wednesday's 2-1 victory over Sweden.

Healy hasn't been as prolific for the Elland Road club, having scored just eight goals in 25 appearances this term, but the former Preston North End striker is determined to score the goals to keep Leeds in the Championship.

During the midweek victory, the Windsor Park crowd called for Leeds boss Dennis Wise to play their national goalscoring hero more and Healy admitted: "It was a bit embarrassing hearing the chants.

"To be fair to Dennis he has given me my chance and I have not scored enough goals.

"But I am in good form with five goals in two games and that has given me confidence.

"Now I am looking forward to getting back to Leeds and getting the goals that will keep us in the Championship."
