Grayson: Beckford to face Wycombe
Beckford, who has fired 74 goals in 110 starts for Leeds since arriving from Wealdstone for £70,000 three years ago, has officially told the club he wants to leave. Newcastle have reportedly made an improved bid of £1.5million for the 26-year-old but that still falls short of Leeds' valuation and until an offer has been accepted, Grayson has no qualms playing the wantaway forward. Beckford's agent Nick Rubery confirmed on Tuesday his client had handed in an official transfer request and Grayson said: "We cannot stop it getting into the public domain when other people get involved. But we don't conduct our business through the media. We try and do it as quietly as possible. "Other people have obviously put it out there but our stance has not changed from last summer when he put in his first request. Whatever decision that will be made regarding Jermaine will be made with the club's best interests at heart. "He could be here in the summer and leave on a free transfer, he could sign a new contract, which would be highly unlikely after he has put in a transfer request. The other scenario is we sell him during the transfer window but we will dictate what happens."
