Derry says sorry

Leeds United midfielder Shaun Derry has apologised to his team-mates for the sending off that ended his season.

The former Crystal Palace star was dismissed following a clash with Kevin Gallen during Saturday's 1-1 draw at QPR, earning himself a three-game ban and a fine of a week's wages.

"I am gutted about it because it cost the team the three points and it was more stupidity than being malicious on my part," Derry told the club's official website.

"It got into a heated argument and I didn't even raise my fist in his direction, I just put my hand up and it just caught him.

"I can see where the ref's coming from but in the bigger picture it's quite ridiculous when you see all the tackles that go off on a Saturday afternoon.

"I am going to get a three-match ban and that's what I am more gutted about because that's my season ended now."
