New Leeds United boss Dennis Wise has swung the Elland Road axe again after telling Paul Butler he is free to leave the club.
Butler - the former United skipper - will follow Sean Gregan out of the exit door as Wise continues his shake-up of the ailing West Yorkshire club.
"I told Paul he's not needed at the club anymore so he's able to find someone else," Wise told the club's official website.
"He's not going to be part of my plans. I am looking to bring in centre-backs and I felt it was only right to speak to Paul.
"He knows my reasons why and I said if I really do need him, I would expect him to be a professional and do the right thing. At the moment I don't need him."
Earlier in the week Wise signed Matt Heath on loan from Championship rivals Coventry City with a view to a permanent switch in January.
