Bryan On Redfearn Radar
Leeds are considering signing defender Richard Bryan after fielding the former Aston Villa trainee in their development squad's win at Sunderland on Monday.
Phil Hay writes in the YEP that Bryan, who is without a club and has been training with United since appearing in development-league cup tie at Barnsley last month, could be offered the chance to join Neil Redfearn’s Under-21 squad on a permanent basis following a trial at Thorp Arch.
The 20-year-old would give academy coach Redfearn another option at centre-back following the recent departures of youngsters Ross Killock and Charlie Taylor on loan to Chester and Fleetwood Town respectively.
Redfearn said: “He did most of his academy education at Villa and he came to us a couple of years back. I liked the look of him then.
“For whatever reason things didn’t happen but he’s got a great attitude, he knows his position and he’s an athlete, very competitive.
“We’re a bit light at the back with the 21s and he hasn’t let us down. He’s got something going for him and he’s something to work with.”
Bryan was released from Villa’s academy in the summer of 2012.
