Agent denies Derry claims

Leeds midfielder Shaun Derry did not leak the United team to Crystal Palace before the Championship game between the two sides, according to the player's agent.

After United's 2-1 win against Palace, boss Dennis Wise revealed that the unnamed player who spoke out of turn would never star for the club again.

Speculation immediately linked Derry with the incident as he was a former Eagles player and was not in Wise's team for the game.

However, Derry's agent, Phil Smith, told The Sun: "Shaun went to Palace's hotel the night before the game to see old friends and attended the game.

"But people have wrongly assumed he is to blame because he used to play for Crystal Palace.

"We've had no contact from Dennis Wise and Leeds whatsoever. It would be best for Leeds to make it clear who the player is, then these rumours can stop."
