8) TONY YEBOAH VS Liverpool (Liverpool 0-1 Leeds United, August 21st 1995)
Not many players have a type of goal named after them, but after Tony Yeboah’s wonder strike against Liverpool at the start of the 1995-1996 Premier League Season, kid’s all over the country were trying to replicate the famous off the crossbar and in volley. After successful spells with Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, the Ghanaian was brought to Leeds by then manager Howard Wilkinson for a sum in the region of £3.5 million.
Yeboah wasted no timing in repaying the faith shown in him with this outstanding volley. Tony Dorigo picked out Rod Wallace with a long ball to the edge of the area who nodded down to the oncoming Ghanaian who smashed past David James in the Liverpool goal. The ball hammered against the underside of the cross bar, over the line and up into the roof of the net.
