Paul Tierney is one of the Football League's less experienced referees having completed only one season as a National Group official. His 22 games last term were made more often than not in League Two but he did take charge of two Championship fixtures. In all Tierney gave out 57 yellow cards and five reds. This is his first appearance at Elland Road and his first appointment in a match involving Leeds United.
