Thompson Moves On

Neil Thompson has been sacked from his position as Leeds United's academy and reserve team manager, along with assistant Daral Pugh. The move comes with Leeds sitting second bottom of Group 'D' in the under-18 Premier Academy League, with only one point from a possible 15. Shaun Harvey, United chief executive, outlining some of the reasons behind the pair's removal, said: "If you think about it, there hasn't been a big name for a couple of seasons. We can't afford to be complacent about the Academy and we can't assume that because we've produced a great number of players in the past, we'll automatically continue to do so. We genuinely felt the Academy would benefit from new leadership and fresh ideas."
