Stoke Ready To Pounce For Snoddy

Stoke City appear to be early bidders for the signature of Robert Snodgrass from Leeds United should the Whites fall short in their bid to reach the Barclays Premier League. The international winger came on as a second-half substitute as Scotland lost 2-0 to Brazil yesterday but the 23-year-old has been a revelation at Elland Road this season and a key player in getting his side into the Championship play-off zone. The Glasgow-born ace has netted seven times in all competitions - including in a 1-1 FA Cup draw at Arsenal - and his undoubted top-flight potential appears to have caught the eye of Potters boss Tony Pulis who is reported to be lining up a deal for the wideman. Pulis is thought to believe that Snodgrass' pace and crossing ability would suit powerhouse strikers Kenwyne Jones and John Carew ideally. Not turning 24 until September, Snodgrass would seem destined to grace the Premier League at some stage but will hope to get his chance with the Whites who currently sit fifth in the Championship table ahead of next weekend's return to action at home to sixth-placed Nottingham Forest.
