Steve Evans begins Leeds reign with draw at Fulham

A penalty from Chris Wood earned Leeds a 1-1 draw at Fulham in Steve Evans' first game in charge.

Evans was on Monday appointed United's sixth manager in 18 months under their controversial owner Massimo Cellino following Uwe Rosler's sacking.

Just like those who came and went before him, the former Crawley and Rotherham manager could not begin his stint at Leeds with a win.

But Wood's 64th-minute spot-kick did at least end a run of three straight defeats for the visitors after they fell behind to Moussa Dembele's first-half strike.

Marco Djuricin and Philipp Hofmann were on target as Brentford secured back-to-back Sky Bet Championship victories with a convincing 2-0 victory over Wolves at Molineux.

Djuricin, who is on a season-long loan from RB Salzburg, struck after 17 minutes with Hofmann setting the seal on the win two minutes from time to earn caretaker manager Lee Carsley his second win in three games following the departure of Marinus Dijkhuizen last month.

It was also only Brentford's fourth win of the season, but a deserved one against an out-of-sorts Wolves side who slipped to their second successive defeat.

Derby missed out on the chance to break into the top six with a 0-0 draw at Blackburn.

The Rams arrived at Ewood Park on the back of a six-game unbeaten run that suggested they were adapting to new manager Paul Clement's philosophy after a shaky start.

However, that form was not evident as Rovers recorded their fourth home clean sheet in a row, a fact that bodes well ahead of the visit of east Lancashire neighbours Burnley this weekend.
