Saints swoop for free agent Camara

The former Derby and Burnley left-back travelled north on Thursday to discuss a move back to Scotland with Saints boss Gus MacPherson, and despite the interest of League One side Leeds, the Guinea international put pen-to-paper on a deal until the end of the current campaign.

Camara has been on the look out for a new club since being released a fortnight ago by new Derby boss Nigel Clough, since when he has been training with Leeds to retain his fitness.

Whites boss Simon Grayson was thought to be keen to offer a Camara a deal at Elland Road after the pair worked together at Blackpool earlier this term but the Whites failed to table an offer before the 33-year-old signed with the Saints after being impressed with the set-up of the Paisley club.

It is thought that if Camara plays ten games between now and the end of the season for the SPL side, he will automatically be offered a one-year deal in the summer.

Camara has played three times for Derby this season, including the famous Carling Cup semi-final first-leg victory over Manchester United. He also made 14 appearances in a three-month loan spell at Blackpool.
