Leeds manager Simon Grayson praised the performance of Billy Paynter following his first goal for the club in United`s 2-1 win at Preston. Goals from Neil Kilkenny and the excellent Paynter gave Leeds a two-goal lead before Iain Hume pulled one back for the home side. "I was always going to rotate my squad. I was excited when I signed him at the start of the season - he has had a stop-start season but I always knew I could play him at any time," said Grayson. "He has great qualities, he is a clever player, his work rate, and he has been desperate for a goal. "To get his goal with a great strike, in front of the Leeds fans, it epitomises what the fans think about him. I'm delighted for him and hopefully he will go on to get more now." Grayson also had praise for the rest of his team, adding: "I'm delighted with the defenders - I knew it would be a tough game and we said before the game it was going to be a real scrap and we mixed our game up at times. "We had people putting bodies on the line but that is how you win football matches sometimes - and I'm delighted to have done it."
