McCormack hits four in reserve romp

Leeds striker Ross McCormack could have played his way back into Simon Grayson's first-team plans with a timely four-goal haul for the reserves. McCormack has made only four starts for Leeds since signing from Cardiff for an undisclosed fee in August, but has recently turned in several eye-catching displays for the second string. The 24-year-old Scot struck four times in a 6-0 defeat of Hartlepool's reserves, and with Leeds team-mate Billy Paynter about to start a three-match ban, McCormack could get his reward. Reserve-team manager Neil Redfearn said: "He was unplayable at times. "There's been times in the last three or four games when he's been like that. It will give him confidence. He knows that if he goes back in the first team he'll be at it."
